Preview: Sheffield Wednesday

22 February 2013

Recent weeks has seen Wednesday turn the corner with just one defeat in their last 11 Championship outings leavings the Owls lying in 19th position in the table. When the sides met in September Wednesday were second in the table but were beaten by rock-bottom Palace, a result which saw both side's fortunes change drastically over the next few months.

Dave Jones' side have taken more points on their travels this season than they have at Hillsborough, and recorded successive draws in the past week away at Derby and Birmingham. Their last home game saw them beat Brighton 3-1 including a goal from recent signing Leroy Lita who has netted in three of his four Owls appearances.

Top scoring for the Yorkshire side so far this season is Michail Antonio with eight to his name, including their goal in the 2-1 defeat at Selhurst, and Palace should also keep an eye on centre-back Roger Johnson who has chipped in with a further five.

Crystal Palace: Wilfried Zaha is likely to miss out after suffering a dead leg, while Joel Ward, Danny Gabbidon and Paddy McCarthy could be involved over the next few weeks.  Owen Garvan is back in light training after a knee injury, but Andre Moritz, Darcy Blake, and Alex Nimely remain out.

Sheffield Wednesday: Dave Jones is sweating on Anthony Gardner (thigh), Reda Johnson (hamstring) and Giles Coke who all have knocks. New signing Connor Wickham made his full debut against Birmingham in midweek and should start again tomorrow.
