The Football League has today named Martin Atkinson as the referee for the Championship Play-Off Final.
The 42-year-old Yorkshireman will take charge of the Wembley showpiece between Crystal Palace and Watford on Monday 27th May.
Stuart Burt and Peter Kirkup have been named as assistant referees for the match, while Neil Swarbrick will be the fourth official.
Atkinson has only taken charge of three Championship matches this season, giving out a total of seven yellow cards.
His last Championship match was back on Boxing Day 2012, as he oversaw Middlesbrough’s 1-0 win over Blackburn.
Atkinson has refereed 23 Premier League matches this season, as well as five FA Cup games, two Champions League fixtures and a solitary Europa League match.
He was also the referee in the World Cup Qualifying match between Bulgaria and Italy in September last year and took charge of the FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Stoke in May 2011.
Atkinson hasn’t taken charge of a Crystal Palace fixture since March 2011, when the Eagles lost 2-1 to QPR at Loftus Road.
