McArthur Reflects On Bittersweet Afternoon

13 December 2014

James McArthur was pleased to get off the mark for Palace was admits that it was a disappointing afternoon for the Eagles after their 1-1 draw against Stoke City.

The Scottish international netted a fine looping header in the 11th minute of a turgid encounter, but Peter Crouch found an instant reply 90 seconds later to level things up, and McArthur was annoyed that his side let the lead slip away so quickly.

After the game he said: “It was frustrating to let that goal in, not just for me because it was my goal before but for the team in general. We conceded straight away and that’s disappointing, but we’re more disappointed that we didn’t win the game and the matter in which we conceded.

“I think we’re creating a lot, we just need to take some more of those chances and be more clinical, today is a perfect example as we could have had a few goals but we’ll take a point and move on.”

Yannick Bolasie was also left frustrated after the final whistle, saying: “We went 1-0 up and they scored two minutes later so we know we’re better than that.

“We’ve been playing well but it’s disappointing that we didn’t get all three points today. We’ve got to move on and look forward to the next game.”

It was another good showing from the winger, who’s been receiving plenty of plaudits for his recent performances and he thanked his teammates and Neil Warnock for their part in that.

He added: I’m just enjoying my football at the moment, the boys and the manager are giving me the licence to try and create things on the pitch.”
