Gayle Wins Goal Of The Season Award

6 May 2014

Dwight Gayle has won Crystal Palace's Goal of the Season award for his stunning strike against Aston Villa.

The former Peterborough frontman won the prize following an online vote by readers of the Five Year Plan fanzine, who comprehensively decided that his stoppage time blockbuster on Boxing Day last year was our best strike of the campaign.

Gayle, 23, held off strong competition from the likes of Stuart O'Keefe, Jason Puncheon, Marouane Chamakh and Cameron Jerome to pick up the prize at the club's end of season awards evening at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon tonight.

The gong rounds off a memorable couple of days for Gayle, who bagged a brace in last night's 3-3 draw against Liverpool to take his goal tally to five in his maiden Premier League campaign.
