Palace To Play Brentford In Friendly

23 May 2014

Crystal Palace have announced their first domestic pre-season game ahead of the 2014/15 season which will see them travel to Griffin Park to take on Brentford on 2nd August.

The newly-promoted Championship side earned their spot in the second tier after finishing second in League One last season under the management of Mark Warburton, and should provide a good test for Tony Pulis' side when they travel to west London for a 3pm kick-off.

The Eagles and the Bees haven't met in a competitive game since 1977 when they were drawn together in the League Cup, and after a 2-1 defeat at Brentford in the first leg, Palace won 5-1 at Selhurst to progress to the next round.

However the two sides did meet in a friendly back in the summer of 2010 when George Burley took his Palace troops to Hounslow and after Nicky Forster had given the hosts the lead, Kieron Cadagon ensured a share of the spoils with a goal on the hour mark.

The match is the fourth game to be announced so far of the club's pre-season plans, which also sees them travel Stateside to the east coast of the USA to play three matches - more information here.

Confirmed Palace pre-season fixtures:
23rd July - Columbus Crew (A)
25th July - Philadelphia Union (A)
28th July - Richmond Kickers (A)
2nd August - Brentford (A)
