CPFC Foundation Receive Mark Of Excellence

10 November 2014

The Crystal Palace FC Foundation were delighted to receive a Mark of Excellence in the Best Football Community Scheme category at last Thursday’s prestigious Football Business Awards Ceremony.

On the night we were honoured to hold company with one of the football world’s great ambassadors and a true footballing legend Sir Bobby Charlton. The Foundation was overwhelmingly proud to receive acknowledgement for our work in the presence of such a distinguished hero.

Our category was full of strong competition from the respective Foundations of Everton, Charlton, Chelsea, Liverpool and Fulham to name but a few. Sure enough, with a number of underdogs triumphing in earlier categories, the CPFC Foundation were named as runners up, behind Sporting Memories, as Best Football Community Scheme.

To receive a mark of excellence in this category is a huge achievement for the Foundation and is testament to the hard work and spirit of all the team. To be recognised nationally among the industry’s top community schemes and to fend off competition from a number of large London clubs makes this triumph one of the most successful in the Foundation’s history.

This will spur us on to broaden our reach even further in the hope that we can make a real and lasting impact on the people within the local community. This begins in our home borough of Croydon but extends to all of our surrounding area as we act as a hub for sporting activity, youth development and general community care and support.

“Crystal Palace FC are proud to be recognised as a leading club on the forefront of community activity. We cherish our roots as a family run club with a special attachment to our local people and their communities. It is especially gratifying to see recognition being extended to our CPFC Foundation as reward for all the success of recent community programmes.” - Phil Alexander CEO Crystal Palace FC
