Goalkeeper Pain Signs Professional Deal

31 October 2014

Crystal Palace academy goalkeeper Oliver Pain has signed a two year professional contract with the club.

The shot-stopper turned 17 earlier this week and celebrated by putting pen to paper on a new deal with the club, flanked by first-team boss Neil Warnock, having recently broken into the under-18s side.

The Australian goalkeeper was spotted last year by Eagles coach George Wood initially on YouTube, and after impressing during a trial period he has gone on to make his first appearance for Ken Gillard's side in the 7-0 thrashing of Barnsley as well as featuring against Birmingham City and the under-17s' Premier League International Cup tournament last weekend.

After signing his new deal, the teenager said: "I'm really excited, it's something that everyone dreams of and I'm really pleased that I've managed to do this at the age of 17.

"It's been really good to play games at under-18 level recently and now I've just got to keep on playing and progressing at Crystal Palace."
