Zeki Fryers Completes Palace Move

1 September 2014

The club have made their first purchase of transfer deadline day by bringing in Tottenham Hotspur left-back Zeki Fryers for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old has put pen to paper on a three year contract with the Eagles and becomes Neil Warnock's second signing during his second stint as manager, following Wilfried Zaha's loan move on Thursday.

Fryers told that he was pleased to see the deal completed: "I found out over the weekend from my agent that there was interest and I knew Crystal Palace were the best club for me at this time of my career.

"I am very excited to be here and it's a fresh start for me now. I can't wait to get out on the training pitch and show what I can do.

"I have met Neil Warnock this morning and we had a good chat about the game and things on and off the pitch. I am really looking forward to working with such a great manager and getting to know my new team-mates."

Fryers is a product of the Manchester United academy, and made his debut for the Red Devils in a League Cup tie against Leeds United back in September 2011. He went to on appear in the Champions League and Premier League under Sir Alex Ferguson's management, but only made six appearances at Old Trafford during the 2011/12 campaign.

He moved to Belgian club Standard Liege in August 2012 but spent just six months in continental Europe before switching to Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window. Last season saw him breakthrough into the Spurs squad, making 16 appearances for the club, including seven during their Europa League campaign.

The defender has also represented England at under-16, under-17 and under-19 levels.
