Palace players welcomed in the festive season by celebrating with young fans at the annual Junior Eagles Christmas party.
In festive mood, the group signed autographs, posed for selfies and met Junior Eagles members on what was an action-packed evening in the run up to a busy Christmas period.
Held exclusively for Junior Eagles, the party involved a disco, party food, dancing with the Crystal Girls, with club mascots Pete and Alice also making an appearance. However, the evening will be remembered for the all-important player meet and greet - something the players themselves have fond memories of.
Speaking at the event, Jason Puncheon said: “It means a lot to kids at this age. I had a few photos with footballers when I was younger but it was scarce that I’d get to meet them. The Christmas party is a lot more interactive because we have time to talk to them, and that accessibility you get because you’re a club member makes it special for the kids, and obviously for the parents bringing them along it makes a nice Christmas present.”
Puncheon was one of several first team players attending the party (held across two days), which also saw Fraizer Campbell, Joe Ledley, Julian Speroni, Dwight Gayle, Wayne Hennessey, and a number of others from the squad in attendance.
Campbell, who as a youth team player at Manchester United would often bump into his footballing idols, highlighted the importance of the club establishing strong links with fans in the community.
“Palace try really hard to involve everyone from the local area. When we play at home on Saturday the fans get behind us and we need to keep that going, and doing things like this with younger fans will help us in the future. It’s something for the parents too because they can bring their kids here as a well done for doing well at school, and hopefully meeting the players will give them extra encouragement!”
The Junior Eagles membership package offers young fans a discounted CPFC Junior Home Shirt, complimentary Selhurst Park tour, signed card and birthday gift, plus much more. Click here to find out about becoming a Junior Eagle, and here to sign-up for this season’s membership.
