Bolasie: AFCON Latest

5 February 2015

Yannick Bolasie and his DR Congo side had to settle for a play-off game as they lost the semi-final encounter of the Africa Cup Of Nations against Ivory Coast.

Yaya Toure put them ahead with a ferocious 20-yard shot but soon after Dieumerci Mbokani levelled with a penalty after Eric Bailly handled.

Gervinho made it 2-1 when he curled in to finish off a breakaway and then Wilfried Kanon got on the end of a save from Serge Aurier's header to further extend the lead.

Early in the second half saw a chance for Bolasie as he came close to bringing his side back into the game after a fine run and shot, but the chance went away and DR Congo couldn’t get back into the contest.

Ivory Coast will meet either Equatorial Guinea or Ghana in the final of the competition.

Yannick will now play the losers of the other semi-final in Saturday’s third and fourth place play-off match.
