Alan Pardew feels that this afternoon's game against Leicester is one that starts an important week for his side, with a home game against Newcastle to come in midweek, attention though first is on the trip to The King Power Stadium.
“They’re a tough team, they’ve done some business in January, and all the teams down the bottom can see the finish line is not that far away so points are very important.
“It’s a game we can put great distance between us and them. On the same token for them, it brings them really, really tight to us if they win. It’s a crucial game in respect of that."
Pardew believes that despite a good run of results since he has taken over, his squad mustn't let any complacency find its way into the set up.
“Do I feel like we’re safe? No I don’t and I won’t let that feeling manifest itself, the team has good experience, good ability and we potentially could finish mid-table if everything fell into place.
“But I think we all know we’ve got a big battle on our hands. No-one has fallen away this year.
“Every game will be competitive and we have to make sure we are too.”
