Pardew: No Classical Moment

31 January 2015

An early goal proved crucial as Alan Pardew watched his side go behind and not be able to get back in the game on this occasion.

"We never really produced a classical moment, or a great moment today, that was a shame, we had a lot of good play but that final pass, that final idea, let us down today."

Following a couple of goals in last week's cup victory Marouane Chamakh was recalled to the starting line-up in league action but had to go off after a clash of heads with Seamus Coleman.

"The loss of Cham was crucial today, his guile and experience around the box would have been important, he's got a broken nose we fear, so fingers crossed he doesn't get my cold.

"He wasn't concussed, but it was a heavy blow to the nose, but I think he'll be okay for Leicester."

The side came very close to get an equaliser soon after going behind but the result of the goal-line technology showed the ball wasn't over the line.

"I thought Gayle's shot was in, and the players' reaction looked like it was in. So whoever invented that goal line technology wanted kicking up the bum today!

"To be fair the linesman said 'it's not on the watch', so I knew straight away really."
