Jamaica Top Gold Cup Group

15 July 2015

Adrian Mariappa's Jamaica sealed top spot in their CONCACAF Gold Cup group by beating El Salvador 1-0 in their final game of the group stage, and will now face Haiti in the quarter-finals.

The Palace defender once again completed the 90 minutes for the Reggae Boys and played a key role in the victory as it was his shot that was parried by Derby Carrillo and the rebound gobbled up by Gareth McCleary in the 72nd minute who netted the game's only goal.

Jamaica were forced to endure a nervy final 10 minutes when Darren Mattocks was sent off for a second bookable offence, and they suffered injury woes during the contest with two players, including their goalkeeper Dwayne Miller, being carried off.

Despite this, Jamaica advanced to the last eight having picked up two wins and a draw from their three matches, and will now face Haiti in Baltimore on Saturday who picked up a win, a draw and a loss in their group, which contained the USA, Honduras and Panama.
