Premier League Round Up: Deals And Rumours

Rumours continue to circulate the Emirates Stadium that Arsene Wenger is planning to spend big on a single player once again this summer, with Karim Benzema heavily linked. However with the arrival of Petr Cech, Wojciech Szczesny has joined Roma on a season-long loan deal after being demoted to third choice goalkeeper.

The Villans continue to be busy in the transfer market this summer as they re-invest the vast amounts received for some of their former star men. Ghana striker Jordan Ayew follows in his brother Andre's footsteps by moving to the Premier League this summer for a reported £12 million, and defender Jose Angel Crespo will replace Ron Vlaar at centre-back.

Having been one of the stars of the Championship last season, Callum Wilson has signed a new four year contract with the Cherries. The striker hit 20 goals last season after moving from Coventry City to help his side into the Premier League for the first time in their history.

Chelsea have once again been investing in youth by bringing in Danilo Pantic from Partizan Belgrade for around £1.25 million. The 18-year-old was immediately farmed out to their feeder club Vitesse Arnhem after playing 13 times for the Serbian side last season. Left-back Filipe Luis has returned to Atletico Madrid after a disappointing season in England.

The Toffees are staying firm to keep John Stones at the club, with Everton reportedly rejecting a £26 million bid from Chelsea but both the Manchester clubs apparently remain interested. Young striker Chris Long has joined Burnley for an undisclosed fee, having spent time on loan at Brentford last season.

After Esteban Cambiasso confirmed that he won't be returned to the King Power Stadium for another season, Claudio Ranieri continues to search for a replacement with Chile’s Charles Aranguiz linked with a big money move, but the Foxes boss has told defender Paul Konchesky that he won't feature in his plans for the upcoming campaign.

Christian Benteke became the Reds' biggest signing of the summer when he moved from Aston Villa for over £32 million when Liverpool triggered a release fee clause in his contract, throwing into doubt the future of a number of strikers further down the pecking order at Anfield.

Having signed a number of English players already this summer, City are apparently set to hijack Chelsea's attempt to sign John Stones. They are reportedly also after former Blues midfielder Kevin de Bruyne who is now at Wolfsberg, but would have to shell out around £40 million to secure his signature.

With plenty of big money signings already through the door, Louis van Gaal seems set to lose the club's most expensive signing of all. Angel di Maria has gone missing after not reporting for the club's pre-season tour of the United States as he attempts to force a move away from Manchester, with Paris St Germain set to offer him a way out.

The Magpies have apparently agreed an £8 million deal to bring Anderlecht defender Chancel Mbemba to St James' Park. The international teammate of Yannick Bolasie would follow Aleksandar Mitrovic's path by moving between the two clubs this summer should he move, but young striker Adam Armstrong has been allowed to join Coventry City on loan until January.

Two more new recruits have joined the Eagles' opening day opponents, with Robbie Brady moving from Hull City where he impressed last season, and young Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom has also signed on a season long loan deal having spent last season at West Bromwich Albion.

After being relegated with Queens Park Rangers last season and Cardiff City the year before that, centre-back Steven Caulker is hoping for a change of fortune at Southampton after arriving on loan from the Hoops to fill the void left by Toby Alderweireld.

In what could be one of the bargains of the summer, Mark Hughes has once again gone for a former Barcelona man by bringing in Ibrahim Afellay on a free transfer after he was released by the Catalan club. Hughes has also confirmed that the Potters would like to add Ukrainian winger Andriy Yarmalenko to their ranks for around £13 million.

Dick Advocaat continues to re-jig his defensive options by bringing in Younes Kaboul from Tottenham as well as Holland international Jermaine Lens who should provide a bit of spark to the Black Cats frontline after his arrival from Dynamo Kiev. Meanwhile Santiago Vergini has joined Getafe on loan for the season.

Garry Monk has moved to quash speculation that the club are interested in Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher, with rumours mounting that Batefemi Gomis has been subject to a transfer bid from Dubai side Al Ahli but is unlikely to be allowed to move away from south Wales.

Most of the gossip surrounding Tottenham seems to involve players departing White Hart Lane, with Emmanuel Adebayor set to join one of a number of interested Premier League clubs on loan, Vlad Chiriches on his way to Napoli and DeAndre Yedlin open to leaving on loan.

Three new recruits have come through the door at Vicarage Road in the form of Steven Berguis, Jose Jurado and Miguel Britos. Jurado has plenty of pedigree having played for both Madrid clubs and Schalke 04, whereas Berguis is a Dutch winger and Britos is a Uruguayan defender who has featured for Napoli.

After a long wait, Tony Pulis has finally seen another new face come into the club in the form of Wales international defender James Chester, who arrives from Hull City. Pulis has also declared his interest in Rickie Lambert, and is chasing free agent Bakary Sakho while attempting to hang onto Saido Berahino who is apparently a target for Tottenham.
