Adrian Mariappa's Jamaica side fell to their second straight defeat at the Copa America after losing 1-0 to Paraguay last night.
The Eagles defender played the whole game in Chile, but after they were beaten by a single goal by Uruguay in their group opener they suffered the same fate against the Paraguayans to leave their hopes of qualifying for quarter finals hanging by a thread.
The game's key moment came on 36 minutes when a goalkeeping error by Duwayne Kerr led to the only goal of the game for Edgar Benitez who saw the ball ricochet off his knee and into the net after a poor headed clearance by the Reggae Boyz shot-stopper.
In the group's other game Argentina beat Uruguay 1-0 to leave themselves and Paraguay in pole position to qualify as the top two, with Jamaica facing Lionel Messi and co on Saturday. They need to beat the Argentinians by a big enough margin to overtake Uruguay on goal difference and have any chance of qualifying as one of the best third-placed sides.
Elsewhere Chung-yong Lee played the final six minutes as South Korea got their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign off to the perfect start by beating Myanmar 2-0 in Thailand.
Son Heungmin and Lee Jae-Sung grabbed the goals for the Koreans either side of half time to begin their quest for a spot in the tournament in Russia in three years time.
