Alan Pardew spoke after this victory about the way in which the the team played against Queens Park Rangers being typical of Palace sides over the years with the wingers playing such an important role.
"Yannick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha were terrific in this game and were the difference between the two sides. I hope Steve Coppell was watching this game because he would have been proud today because here we have been famous for our wingers over the years and this performance was like a throwback to watching Palace teams of the past.
"When you have got players with the quality that they have it is about the other sides of their game that you have to work on with them. The skills that they produce cannot be coached and comes from their own talent but what I can do is get them in the right place at the right time. Making sure they know where they should be, what they should do for the team and that is what I am trying to educate them on and of course from their personal points of view they need to get more goals."
Coming out of this game with three points the team sit on 33 points and are getting closer to safety but Alan also has an eye on places above.
"We are nearly safe and where we sit now it would be a long haul for other teams to claw us back but we just need to keep our heads, get ourselves another victory and we will nearly be done. I have always said to the players here that there are two things in this Premier League, you either look down and start to get anxiety or look up and try and get to the team above and that is we will do. We now have a chance to stamp on the division what we are about and if we can do that between now and the end of the season I will be happy."
