Today marks 25 years since Crystal Palace's FA Cup final meeting with Sir Alex Ferguson' Manchester United side at Wembley stadium.
The Eagles came within minutes of landing the iconic silverware, leading the Red Devils 3-2 in extra time, but for a late Mark Hughes equaliser to force a replay. United would go on to win the second fixture 1-0 five days later and claim the trophy.
Despite ultimately finishing runners-up, that Palace side is remembered fondly by fans as one of the best in the club's history. An unbeaten Cup run between the 6th January 1990 and the eventual defeat in the Final Replay on 17th May 1990 saw the Eagles beat Portsmouth (2-1), Huddersfield Town (4-0), Rochdale (1-0), Cambridge United (0-1), Liverpool (4-3, AET) and nearly see off Manchester United (3-3, AET).
To celebrate the achievements of the Eagles in that period, there is an anniversary dinner taking place this evening at Selhurst Park. The members of the squad will socialise and share their memories of that incredible era in Crystal Palace's history.
