Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye started for France in an emotionally-charged friendly against England at Wembley last night.
The talk in the build up to the game was of the tragedy in Paris last Friday, with both sets of fans joining together to sing La Marseillaise before kick off, followed by an immaculately observed minute's silence.
The unity in the stands led to a well-natured match up on the pitch, with both sides really going for it in a game where the football was not the focus. Cabaye started in midfield for Les Bleus, playing in a slightly more advanced role than he has done for Palace.
He was tenacious and hard-working during his hour on the field, trying to harry the England defence high up the pitch and making a number of key challenges in his own half. Despite his efforts, France fell to a 2-0 defeat, due to sublime efforts from England's Dele Alli and Wayne Rooney.
