It is with great pride that Crystal Palace Ladies can confirm that Pammy McRoberts has been selected for the Northern Ireland squad for the home game against Switzerland, in the UEFA Women's Championship, next Friday (27th). Pammy has been a constant presence for The Eagles in their great start this season, travelled to a training camp last weekend and was given the call up on Wednesday.
McRoberts, who works for and is sponsored by William Hill in Kennington, is the first Palace Ladies player to be selected for her first international cap whilst playing for The Red And Blue and couldn't hide her pride at this huge achievement.
"I was one of quite a few looking to impress at the training camp, with a view to breaking into the existing squad. To be honest, that experience alone was special, but to get the call up this week is amazing. I really was quite emotional when I got the call. It means so much. I even had to explain to my little boy that Mum's tears were happy ones!"
Pammy explained, "I am now part of the 20 that will travel and train ahead of the Switzerland match, from which the final match squad is chosen. With family living close to the match venue in Lurgan, Pam knows she won't be short of support. "Everyone is thrilled for me, both here and over in Northern Ireland."
Proud of her role at Palace, she added, "I am well aware that my current form and this opportunity has been greatly helped by everything happening at Palace Ladies this season, and I am so grateful to the girls and coaches for all their help and support."
A very proud head coach, Dean Davenport added, "We are thrilled for Pam. She's done so well and has earned the right to represent her country. That's an honour that we would all love to have and everyone at Palace Ladies will be cheering her on."
