Alan Pardew believes that the Crystal Palace fans are responsible for "the best atmosphere in the Premier League - bar none," praising the cauldron of noise at Selhurst Park.
Speaking during an NBC Sports documentary on Palace (which you can watch for free HERE
!) Pardew was quick to highlight one of the key aspects of the club's identity.
"It's a club that's built on exuberant spirit," he said. "It has the best atmosphere in the Premier League - bar none.
"I know for a fact that there's two or three of those guys who don't even watch the game, they are literally orchestrating that little section and you have to admire that," he said of the Holmesdale Fanatics, who help generate the raucous SE25 atmosphere from their corner of the ground.
"I admire anyone who's trying to do that for this football club. It's an environment that's not welcoming and [visiting teams] know that if we start well, that stadium is going to help us.
"I think it's very important that you recognise that these guys make above-the-line effort. It really is a great spectacle and it makes for exciting football. We could have delivered a horrendous performance the week before and they would still be the same!"
It's a sentiment that local boy and Palace fan favourite Jason Puncheon agrees with entirely.
"Our fans are just non-stop, non-stop, non-stop it's hard to deal with and hard to get past that [for away teams]," said the midfielder, speaking in the same documentary. "Teams that come here know that they're going to be under massive pressure.
"All fans play a part in football, but our fans have got a great ethos when it comes to pushing us," he added.
Both Pardew and Puncheon also discussed the club's incredible recent progress up the Premier League table, the style of play adopted in south London and more. You can watch the full 45 minute documentary for free HERE
