Crystal Palace has been given the Extra Mile Award by VisitFootball, a joint venture between the Premier League and the national tourist board VisitEngland. Adapted for football stadia from the ‘Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme’, it has been used to assess patron provision at grounds since August 2010.
The judges commended Palace’s success in giving fans a positive match-day experience despite the challenges presented by the Selhurst Park stadium.
VisitFootball, said it was clear that the staff at Selhurst Park were committed to making the fan experience the best it could be.
“Since being promoted into the Premier League, Crystal Palace has embraced the VisitFootball programme to improve the fan experience, they have used the feedback from our programme to take immediate action where they could and to implement longer-term plans, where required.” said Mandy Lane from VisitFootball.
Chairman Steve Parish told the official website, “As the only Premier League club South of the river, our number one priority is to provide as exciting and as enjoyable a matchday experience for fans as possible. This is a nice recognition for our efforts, but we’re working hard with VisitFootball to make sure that it continues to improve in seasons to come.”
