Pardew: Disciplined And Organised

24 October 2015

Alan Pardew felt that his side were unfortunate to be travelling back from the East Midlands with nothing to show for their performance against Leicester City.

"I felt we were disciplined and organised, the emphasis was on the home team. We were comfortable, they only had a few fleeting chances. On our side we didn't really have the creativity in the final third that would open them up."

After going behind the visitors had a penalty shout turned down and had nothing to show for a good response following Jamie Vardy’s goal.

"We lacked that little bit. In the second half the mistake opened the goal up when they scored. It was a mistake initially but it was still a good through ball and it was right on the money for them and Vardy's pace got him there. We pushed and pushed but couldn't find a way.

"Our effort and commitment can never be faulted and that was there again today. We need a little bit of flair, a moment. We didn't really create any today."

Alan was asked about a decision when Wilfried Zaha had a penalty appeal turned down but the manager said that the call had been made and his view didn’t matter after referee Mike Dean waved away the appeals.

"It doesn't really matter, my opinion. As I said this week we know we don't get certain things, they have to be cast iron for us."
