Pardew: We Will Have To Be At Our Best

19 August 2016

Alan Pardew takes his side across London to meet Tottenham Hotspur and believes the home  side will benefit this season from their push for the Premier League title in the last campaign.

“Tottenham isn’t an ideal away game for our first so we’ll have to be at our best tomorrow, they have a manager proven at this level and an energy in the squad.
“They’ll be better for the experience of last year and they have brought (Vincent) Janssen in to give Harry Kane a little rest here and there. We’ll have to be very, very good to get something there..”

Tottenham started the season with a draw at Goodison Park last Saturday but as he looks ahead to the game, Pardew remembers a rare home defeat for Spurs in 15/16 as Palace picked up a cup victory at White Hart Lane.

“We can take confidence from that victory and was a performance that was typical of our team really. We defended well and then had some good counter attacking moments, one of which got us the goal and I remember we did have chances to get more on the day.

"The way Tottenham play mean you need to be very good defensively and that is one area we are good at for sure. “
