Christian Benteke was left delighted by Crystal Palace's victory over Southampton as he capped his 26th birthday with a home brace.
"It was an amazing day for me today," he told Palace TV
"It's my birthday and I really wanted to win this game today to celebrate it properly and that's what the lads did. I'm very happy today."
Benteke had hit five goals before Saturday's game, but all had come away from home. His brace against the Saints saw him finally net at Selhurst Park, something the big Belgian was thrilled with.
"Finally! I was a little bit frustrated with myself that all the goals I had scored were away and today I had the opportunity to score to at home, so I'm very happy," he said.
The striker's first goal saw him close down Fraser Forster and capitalise on a mistake by the Southampton goalkeeper. On the opener, Christian said: "It was instinctive. I thought I would just press and see what happened, the keeper then missed his kick and it was good for me and for the team."
He was also full of praise for the Palace fans, crediting them with playing a vital role in the result.
"I think they've been with us through our tough weeks and it's also their victory because they've been behind us all the way. I think it's a great day for Crystal Palace fans."
