Kelly Reveals Recent Shooting Practice

22 February 2016

Martin Kelly revealed that he and his Palace teammates had been practising their shooting after training in recent weeks and the extra sessions clearly paid off when the full-back rifled home the winner at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

"In the past few weeks we've had a little bit of shooting practice after training," he said after the game. "I've been right up there involved when I've finished practising my defensive work and it paid off today!"

"It was a great pass from Wilf and I was probably only 10 or 15 yards out, if that, so I just thought if I hit it it's got a good chance of going in."

Kelly's first goal in red and blue secured Palace's place in the quarter finals of the Emirates FA Cup, where they will face Reading away, giving fans a chance to celebrate after a recent poor run in the Premier League.

Another reason to be cheerful on Sunday was the much anticipated return of winger Yannick Bolasie, who had spent two months sidelined with a hip injury and had not played since the Eagles' last league triumph - away to Stoke City on December 19th.

"When I first joined the club I knew that Yannick and Scotty Dann were a massive part of this team," Kelly said. "It's not that it goes against us without them two, but we would always want them in the side.

"Having Yannick back was an incredible lift for us and the fans let us know that when he came on. You never know what you're getting with Yala... Well we do, the opposition don't! He's a real handful."
