Emmanuel Adebayor scored his first goal in a Crystal Palace shirt last weekend and more of the same on Sunday could bring cup success against his former club, Tottenham Hotspur.
Alan Pardew is aware what it is like to go back to a former club as a player or manager but he knows Adebayor’s new team-mates will be there for him to help him play his part.
"We are all fired up and motivated for him. It will bring out his personality and he will bring quality to the pitch. Spurs fans know that, I don't have to tell them that.
"Cheer him or boo him, whatever they will do, that is part and parcel of the game, part of the fabric of what we love about football. He will cope with the highs and the lows of the game.
"We want to put a performance on for him that gives him the best possible standing to bring his best game to the pitch. If he brings his best game to the pitch, he can win it."
The manager knows that the striker is looking forward to returning to his old club and says the 31 year old’s experience will serve him well at White Hart Lane.
"The adrenaline is there for him, because of Adebayor’s history at Spurs and the way it ended, he’s going to have those emotions.
“Emmanuel is one of those players who is robust in his personality to deal with any situation.
“He’s had difficult scenarios in his career and he’s had some fantastic situations. His experience serves him well and he’ll be passing it on to my younger players.
“He is highly motivated for this game and he is highly motivated to do well for Palace.”
