Crystal Palace Foundation and Southampton's Saints Foundation are encouraging cycling enthusiasts of South London to take part in the Big Bike Challenge and cycle the 83-mile journey from Selhurst Park to St Mary’s Stadium to watch the final Premier League fixture of the 2014/15 season.
The game on Sunday 15th May will be an opportunity for Palace to do the double over the south coast team (Yohan Cabaye the hero in Palace's 1-0 home win in December), and the CPFC Foundation is hoping there will be a few heroes off the pitch come the return fixture, with the Big Bike Challenge raising money for the Croydon Mayor’s charity appeal.
The event, which takes place on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th of May, will include an exclusive training session at the Herne Hill Velodrome in south London on Saturday afternoon, followed by the 83-mile voyage to Southampton on the Sunday, arriving in time to see the Eagles play.
Previous participant of the Big Bike Challenge Dave Richardson said: “The event is getting bigger year on year and it’s a fantastic way to get involved with the Foundation and your football club, and your efforts will be genuinely recognised and acknowledged. The team spirit and camaraderie is second to none and it’s something you just have to do!”
