McArthur Honest In Defeat

13 January 2016

James McArthur spoke honestly about Palace's performance at Villa Park, as the Eagles slumped to a 1-0 defeat to bottom-of-the-table Aston Villa, stretching the run of league games without scoring a goal to four.

The Scotland international spoke frankly, insisting that the Eagles just didn't perform to the expected level and that things must improve.

"We didn’t perform," he said. "They were better than us in most departments. We can’t perform like that and expect to get a result.

"They’ve obviously come out fighting and we didn’t do enough. It’s very frustrating and disappointing as a team, especially when we’ve started the season well.

"All round as a team we were disappointing," he added. "We weren’t quite at it, I don’t know the reason why. I’m sure the manager will have a look at the videos of the game and try to make sure we don’t do what we’ve done tonight again."
