Team News: Townsend And Ladapo Up Top

19 July 2016

Crystal Palace will start against Vancouver Whitecaps with Andros Townsend partnering Freddie Ladapo up front.

Alan Pardew has set his side up in an experimental 3-5-2 formation, with Zeki Fryers and Jordon Mutch as the two wide players.

Chung-yong Lee, Jason Puncheon and Mile Jedinak start in the centre of the park, with last season's central defensive pairing of Damien Delaney and Scott Dann joined by Martin Kelly, and Julian Speroni gets the nod in goal.

Vancouver meanwhile have made nine changes to the side that started their 2-2 draw with Orlando City on Saturday, with Andrew Jacobson and Nicolas Meziquida keeping their spots.

Former Newcastle United man David Edgar makes his debut, Costa Rican international Christian Bolanos starts on the bench and 15-year-old Alphonso Davies is also named among the replacements.

Vancouver: Tornaghi, Edgar, Kah, de Jong, Seller, Jacobson, Aird, Techera, Mezequida, McKendry, Hurtado. Subs: Carducci, Watson, Bolonos, Kudo, Laba, Parker, Bustos, Froese, Levis, Greig, de Wit, Haber, Davies.

Palace: Speroni, Kelly, Delaney, Dann, Mutch, Jedinak, Puncheon, Lee, Fryers, Townsend, Ladapo. Subs: Perntreou, Croll, Boateng, Bolasie, Kaikai, Berkeley-Agyepong, Campbell, Wickham.
