Pardew: Leicester "Clear Favourites" For Title

18 March 2016

Alan Pardew has praised table-topping Leicester City for their incredible season so far, tipping them as favourites for the Premier League title, ahead of Palace's home game against the Foxes this Saturday.

Claudio Ranieri's men sit five points clear of second placed Tottenham Hotspur with eight league games to go and no other competitions to worry about, forcing Pardew to suggest "the run is clear for them."

"Well the stars have aligned for them this season," he said during his pre-match press conference. "Hardly any injuries, no mistakes - or hardly any mistakes - in their campaign and now the run is clear for them. They're the clear favourites, even Sir Alex Ferguson said they're going to win it, probably before their last three big games - it's a possibility.

Palace and Leicester had started the campaign similarly at the back end of last summer, but whilst the Foxes have maintained their incredible form, the Eagles have slipped away and our now winless in the top flight since December 19th.

"For us it's envy, a little bit, at what they've done, but also admiration, because they're not star names most of them," said Pardew.

"Danny Simpson I had at Newcastle, we released him thinking that we could get someone better and here he is in a position to win the league, so I take my hat off to him, I take my hat off to a number of their players, they've been brilliant and they've got to keep perfect and they've got to have the margins go their way.

"The margins are really tight, in every game we've played just recently the margins have been really tight and I don't expect this one to be any different. I don't think they're going to run away from us, it'll be tight and we hope we can get a result."
