Club Donation To JustGiving Page

18 November 2016

Crystal Palace FC, and its players and management, have made a donation to the JustGiving page set up by the council to help the victims, families and communities affected by the Croydon tram accident.

Alan Pardew, speaking at his weekly press conference, said  “It has had a massive impact on us, not just the club but the areas around it. Shocking really.

“We as a club have made a contribution to the fund. We will do everything we can for the families that will be at the game on Saturday.

“We are holding a minute’s silence, it is such a difficult thing. How can we get across the emotion they are feeling, it is such a personal thing.

“We are going to do the best we can. Some of the people injured were connected and two of the people who died were fans.”

Councillor Tony Newman, leader of the council, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who has already donated to the JustGiving page and I hope the money raised will let all of those affected by this awful tragedy know they remain in our thoughts and prayers.

“I am incredibly proud of how Croydon is standing together and supporting each other after last week’s tragic events. If you can spare some money and have yet to donate, please do so via our fundraising page, which will ensure care, help and support is given to those most in need both now and in the difficult months that follow.”

A minutes silence will be held prior to Saturday's home match against Manchester City at Selhurst Park, which as well as remembering those that lost their lives in the tram accident, will also honour the life of Crystal Palace fan, Harry Davies, who died in a seperate tragedy last month.
