Flanagan Answers Ireland's Call

9 November 2016

Palace academy midfielder Kian Flanagan has been called up to the Republic of Ireland's under-18 squad for the first time ahead of two friendly international games in Salou, Spain.

The Irish will meet the Netherlands on Friday 11th November in a 4pm kick-off, then meet Germany on Sunday 13th November at midday, in what will be new under-18s boss Jim Crawford's first fixtures in the post.

Flanagan, 17, has scored four times in 10 appearances for the Eagles' under-18s this season, and has been handed two further games in the development squad, a team he first represented aged just 15 towards the end of the 2014/15.

He has previously played for the Republic's younger youth sides and signed his first professional contract with Palace during the summer.
