CPFC Foundation and academy coach, Tutu Henriques, is a PE coach at Broadmead Primary Academy in Croydon, planning and delivering PE lessons to all children in years 1-6. He also leads and delivers the school sport programme alongside other CPFC Foundation coaches.
However, this Saturday Tutu is set to take his place in the biggest cup competition in the world as Merstham Football Club take their place in the FA Cup first round tie against League One side, Oxford United.
Henriques is a player coach for Merstham and has years of non-league playing experience behind him as he prepares for this live game on BT Sport.
'I’ve been playing a few years now, around 15 years in non-league football, and I am currently player coach at Merstham Football Club, a role I have had for about a year’
Merstham have won four qualifying rounds to reach this stage, beating Ebbsfleet United to secure this televised home tie against League one opposition.
‘This Saturday is definitely, the biggest game in Merstham's history, so it’s a big milestone for a small Surrey club.
‘I believe we can win, because I must! It’s a tall order, they are in League 1, and there are a few teams between us, but only on the day will tell what will happen’
Tutu has become a cult figure at Broadmead Primary Academy, along with his fellow coach James Jenden and he hopes to inspire the young people he teaches.
‘They think I’m a footballer! Which is nice, but the importance of the game on Saturday is a little lost on them, they are busy enjoying their PE!’
All at Crystal Palace Football Club would like to wish Tutu, good luck for Saturday!
