Pardew: They Have World Class Players

18 November 2016

After a dominant start to the season, this weekend's opponents Manchester City have only recorded one win in their last five matches but Alan Pardew believes The Eagles come up against a side who are firm contenders for the Premier League title.

"They are a team who can win the title, they have a world class manager and world class players and that always helps. I would think they would like to put their recent run behind them and get back to winning ways  on a consistent level.

"There performance against Barcelona was certainly one of the highlights of the season so they reach heights that few teams can reach.

"The game against Spurs was certainly a shock for them, the home side were terrific on the day but we have watched most of their games and that was out of the ordinary for them. Without doubt they have the ability to win the league but hopefully we will put a dent in it tomorrow."

Going into this weekend's game the manager knows that his sides current results sequence is one that needs to turn around although performances have not been bad to reflect on.

"From our point of view we need to improve all over, the result at Burnley was a big blow for us because it was a game where we played well in and got ourselves back in it. We left ourselves short at the end going for the win and that has put pressure on us but that is something we have got to deal with. I look at our group and I think we have some fantastic players in our team, we are in a false position in the league and we need to put that right by the time we get to February."
