Former Southampton defender, Francis Benali, was at Selhurst Park on Saturday as he reached the final stages of his 1,500-mile journey of the country, visiting all 44 Premier League and Championship grounds in his bid to raise £1million for Cancer Research. A marathon a day, followed by 74 miles on a bike.
He completed the journey at St Mary’s but prior to our game on Saturday he had the visit to SE25 and then down to Brighton before making his way along the south coast to finish on Sunday.
At Selhurst Park he was met by Palace legends Mark Bright and Jim Cannon as they made a presentation to the 47 year old to mark the tremendous efforts for his chosen charity.
He had already raised £265,000 for the charity with his first phenomenal feat – running from Newcastle to Southampton via every Premier League club in just three weeks! It meant running around 50 miles a day to complete the 1,000-mile trek and now you can help his fund raising efforts with a donation today even though the his 1500 mile journey is complete.
