Christian Benteke will remain on penalty kick duty even though he missed the first half chance against West Ham United last weekend. At his pre-match press conference Alan Pardew said that he had spoken to his centre forward about last week's chance but the important thing is about making sure he scores the next one that comes along.
"He will still be our penalty taker, we have a had chat about it and we had some conflicting opinions on the penalty which we would do but I have great faith in him. I think it is important that your striker continues to score goals and that is why I have always encouraged my centre forwards to take penalties.
"The reason for that is when they are going through a spell without scoring and a penalty comes along suddenly they can get a chance to get their rhythm back and that helps them. Christian isn’t in that position though but he got that penalty wrong, we have seen it from world class players so it happens and you have to accept it but the most important thing is the next one and that he scores."
