International Round-Up

12 October 2016

The final round of World Cup qualifiers came to a conclusion on Tuesday evening with Palace players completing their international break with appearances across the globe.

Andros Townsend was introduced to the action as a second half substitute by Gareth Southgate against Slovenia.

His 12th cap for the Three Lions couldn’t see him help break the deadlock as England stayed top of their group.

James McArthur was named in Gordon Strachan’s starting eleven for their Group F match in Slovakia but they suffered a 3-0 defeat, although the Eagles midfielder did get another 90 minutes of international football to his name.

The round up is complete with news of the Asian qualifier between South Korea and Iran as Chung yong-Lee appeared in 67 minutes of the game but the match ended in a 1-0 defeat for his side.
