Palace Pair Maintain Wales' Unbeaten Start

7 October 2016

Joe Ledley and Wayne Hennessey both featured in Wales' 2-2 draw with Austria in Vienna, as Chris Coleman's side continued their unbeaten start to their 2018 World Cup qualification group.

Both Eagles stars played the full 90 minutes as they clung on to a point in what is possibly their toughest game of the group, with Austria seeded second behind the Red Dragons.

Joe Allen gave them the perfect start when he scored a screaming volley on 22 minutes to give the visitors the lead, however they were pegged back six minutes later by Stoke City teammate Marko Arnautovic's header.

An own-goal on the stroke of half-time by Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer once again but Coleman's boys in front, but their advantage was quickly extinguished once more by Arnatutovic who raced clear to slot past Hennessey just three minutes after the restart.

However the Palace keeper made a couple of smart stops to keep the scores level, and leave the Welsh on four points from their opening two games, with home matches against Georgia on Sunday and Serbia next month on the horizon.

Elsewhere, Chung-yong Lee was an unused substitute as South Korea picked up a 3-2 win against Qatar in Suwon, a result that leaves the Koreans in second position in their group after three matches, and a crunch game against leaders Iran in Tehran to come on Tuesday.
