James Tomkins has managed to recover from his knee injury quickly enough to be named in Crystal Palace’s side to play Sunderland this afternoon.
The centre-back comes into the side ahead to replace Scott Dann who picked up a hamstring injury himself against Southampton on Wednesday, and is one of two changes from the Palace XI that started their last league game against Stoke City six days ago.
The other change is also enforced with Wilfried Zaha missing the game with a slight hamstring strain, and he is replaced in midfield by Yohan Cabaye, and development captain Ben Wynter is included on the bench for the first time in his career.
Sunderland meanwhile make just the one alteration to their last Premier League line-up which saw them lose narrowly at Tottenham Hotspur, with Patrick van Aanholt returning to left-back instead of Jason Denayer.
