Benteke: We Can All Be Proud Of Ourselves

After two goals in the international break against Russia Christian Benteke spoke after the victory against Chelsea how hitting the back of the net boosts the confidence of any striker and his eleventh minute goal turned things round at Stamford Bridge to inflict a rare home defeat on Chelsea. 

"As a striker as soon as you score you have more confidence in what you are doing and I was happy to get the goal and along with the team mates to get the three points in this game. 

"We can be proud of ourselves, the work we did today was unbelievable and we may have had some luck along the way but we deserved to win the game."

The fourth win on the spin moved Sam Allardyce's side moved to 16th place on 31 points and the way the side not only went ahead but stayed ahead against the home sides pressure showed what confidence the team are playing with in this current run according to the Belgian international. 

"You can see the confidence of the team is high at the moment and we are managing to transfer that into our game on the pitch. We work hard for each other and with this win making it four in a row we can be happy but we have to keep going because there is still a long way to go." 

Next up is a trip down the south-coast to face Southampton on Wednesday evening and the 26 year old knows that the squad must build on the unbeaten run to reach the end of season goal of safety.  

"It is a massive win for all of us and throughout from Wayne to me we all put in the dirty work that you have to do and got the victory 
"We have to keep going because we have two more games coming up over the next week but the team are really confident and we need to show that and keep this run going."
