Benteke: We Deserved More

Christian Benteke headed home an equaliser with twenty minutes of the game remaining to take a vital point against Leicester after a goal early in the second half had put  the home side two goals adrift.


The Belgian striker got the better of Yohan Benalouane to convert Andros Townsend's cross and he spoke after about how important one point can be in these final games of the season.


“If we can't win we know that we need to make sure we don’t lose, in this game I think we deserved more and even though as the game went on we pushed we couldn’t get the third goal

“We knew what to expect from Leicester but it’s a match that I finish with mixed feelings as I do believe we should have got more from the game.”


The recent climb up the table has certainly given the squad a confidence that is clear for all to see on the league table as this home draw moves them seven points clear of the relegation zone.


“The group are in a good shape and we showed that today with some great character especially after their lead, we came back in the game well and as I say disappointed not to have taken more.”


 up until they know the outcome of the season and the 26 year old is adamant that nothing is being taken for granted.focussedSix games now remain for Sam Allardyce’s side and he has made no secret of the fact that he wants his players to remain 


“Every game is going to be tough because so many other teams have points to play for and want to win, we will fight until the end as we have shown in recent weeks and that will continue.”
