From The Boardroom - Burnley

29 April 2017

We bring you the latest comments from the Boardroom as Steve Parish pens his programme notes ahead of the game against Burnley.

It’s been a fantastic run and given the performance against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night, the 1-0 defeat didn’t really feel like a loss. The effort and performance was excellent against a very good team challenging for the title.

Yet again though, we lost another centre-back during the game, but hopefully the damage to Mamadou Sakho is not as bad as first feared. However, it seems as though he will miss some games but we are lucky to have Damien Delaney and Martin Kelly to come in which shows how important the depth of squad is during the run-in.

Today’s game will be very different from Wednesday, and a win this evening would more or less ensure safety after what has been a topsy-turvy campaign. I’m sure we would all welcome the relief if we could get over the line against the Clarets today, but if not thanks to the great run we’ve been on in the past couple of months, we have other opportunities coming and points in hand.

This feels like a proper Palace side - committed, hard-working and no lack of quality. After playing seven games this month and three in the past week, there will obviously be tired legs out there today as the fixtures haven’t been kind to us, but with one last push we can finish the job and retain our place in the top-flight for the fifth successive season.

When we needed you most, you have been outstanding. Your support has made a massive difference and I know you will be every bit as good today as you have been during this turnaround. Let’s give it everything again and see if we can enjoy a relaxing time over the next few weeks.

Once again, please remember that season tickets are currently on sale for 2017/18. We have already sold a record number and so we will close the opportunity to purchase them at some point in the near future to ensure there are some seats available every week for casual fans.

Therefore, if you want to join us again on the rollercoaster next season, buy yours online, over the phone or pop into the box office when you get a chance, and back the boys once again next term.

Up The Palace!
