Luka Miliojevic scored his first goal for Palace in the exciting win against Arsenal on Monday evening as the unbeaten home run continued and his 68th minute effort sealed another London derby victory.
The midfielder’s second half penalty confirmed the win for the Eagles and his reaction to the victory was one of delight, not only for his goal, but how pleased he is for all involved.
“I’m very impressed with the victory and I’m very happy with my first goal. We played at home and I’m happy because our pitch has become tough for other teams. I want to say thanks to all my team-mates and staff, when you beat Arsenal 3-0, you must be happy.”
The victory was a perfect showcase of what the team could do on the back of a disappointing midweek loss to Southampton and the 26 year old feels the front three were instrumental to the instant bounce-back.
“They are very dangerous, especially the three players up-front Christian, Wilf and Andros. They created many problems for them [the Arsenal defence], I’m very happy with all of them because they all work different and we as a group were very good tonight.”
The defence certainly played their part in the win, it was the third clean sheet since in the last five games, and Miliojevic acknowledges the team’s defensive game plan.
“We had our way to play the match, we wanted to defend properly, we know they have a lot of speed, power and creativity”
The atmosphere at Selhurst Park for the victory over the Gunners was one to remember with the biggest crowd of the season witnessing the stunning win.
“It was amazing, I must say thank you to the fans. They were amazing for 90 minutes. They supported us and we gave them three points because we play for them and this is something for me that is the best in football, when you win for your fans.”
