Sam Wants His Lads To Play It Again

4 April 2017

Saturday’s result was one that made the headlines around the world but now it is onto 10thplaced Southampton and the opportunity to pick up more points on the road. On away form the Eagles would be 7th in the Premier League and the manager wasted no time in telling his players that their minds need to be straight onto the next challenge.

“I spoke to the players in the dressing room after the game on Saturday and said there was no celebration time as we have an important game on Wednesday. Enjoy your evening from a relaxation point of view and not a night out on the town. We had a great day on Saturday but the message to them going into this one is let’s not waste the good work from the weekend.”

The manager has allocated some time in his pre-match preparations with the squad to talk to them about the importance of putting in a repeat performance to that one which was seen at Stamford Bridge.

“It was an outstanding result for the club and one of the biggest upsets of the weekend and a result which is typical of what the Premier League is about and why people watch it all over the world. The thing for us now to have in our minds is how we can follow up the victory in our next game.  Every player on Saturday performed at their top level but I remember during my time as a manager when one of my teams have pulled off a big result it was always tough to repeat that in the next game.  For this one it's important to remember that we need to repeat the same desire & commitment as every point gained is vital."
