The Palace Ladies unbeaten pre-season came to an end as they went down 3-0 against WSL side London Bees on Sunday afternoon.
In what was always going to be a tough test for The Eagles, The Bees showed their WSL quality with clinical finishing and resolute defending.
The first half was a frustrating one for The Eagles, with Gemma Bryan and Nikita Whinnett both unable to convert a number of chances before the opposition opened their account for the afternoon. The Bees scored twice in the half with a cool finish from 10 yards out and a fantastic 20 yard strike, lobbing Megan Lynch in the Palace goal.
The second half saw The Eagles again creating the better chances against their WSL opponents but unable to find a break through. The Bees increased their advantage mid-way through the half from the penalty spot to run out convincing winners.
Palace did have one last chance from the spot in the 90th minute, but Gemma Bryan's penalty and follow up rebound were brilliantly saved by the Bees keeper.
Despite the result, the performance showed good promise with the new players adapting well to the system and with less than three weeks to go before the season opener against QPR, The Eagles will look to bounce back against another WSL team at Oxford on Wednesday August 16th 2017 in their last pre-season game.
