Allardyce: Win Would Be Morale Booster

16 January 2017

Sam Allardyce prepares for the FA Cup replay against Bolton Wanderers at Selhurst Park on Tuesday night knowing that a victory and a fourth round tie against Manchester City will be a perfect confidence boost for his squad.

“A win would be a moral booster when it does come so for it to happen in this match would be good and even though it would not affect the league the match will give me a little more insight into the players we are playing in this one. The players will have the responsibility to play without the fear that can strike you when you are playing in a bad run, we are looking for them to produce a performance that goes on and beats Bolton.

"I will make changes to the team but looking at the line up I am going to play there is only one player who hasn’t had much Premier League experience in the first team as he has been out on loan recently. The rest of the team have experience and hopefully will go one better than we did at Bolton as it will be a shame to waste all the effort we gave at Bolton to throw it away at our own place."

Sam is looking for the opportunity of the fans to go home after seeing the players go through in the competition but is aware of the scale of opposition that his side come up against.

"Its important to show our fans that we are committed and make them feel good when they go home after seeing a victory for us. On the day it will be about the players doing the right things in the right places at the right time.

"If you want  to give yourselves the best chance against Everton you have to change your team for the game against Bolton so we don't give the players any recovery issues. We are playing a league one team who are well drilled and are playing well but the team we will have out there for the game will have a big challenge to do well and show me what they can do."
