Honours Even As Eagles Face Off

12 June 2017

Wayne Hennessey and Luka Milivojevic went head-to-head on Sunday evening in World Cup qualifying action, however they were both forced to settle for a point as Wales claimed a 1-1 draw in Serbia.

The evening began badly for the Eagles midfielder as he was spotted tugging Sam Vokes’ shirt inside the box and conceded a penalty, which Aaron Ramsey converted to give Chris Coleman’s team the lead at the interval.

Hennessey was barely troubled during the match, however he was forced to pick the ball out of his net with 17 minutes remaining when Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic fired past him after a slick passing move, condemning Wales to a fifth successive draw in their group.

That leaves them third, four points behind joint-leaders Serbia and the Republic of Ireland, with all three teams still unbeaten in qualifying, however it means Hennessey’s side face a big challenge now to reach the finals in Russia next summer.
