Benteke Scores Two For Belgium

28 March 2017

Two first half goals from Christian Benteke came so close to giving Belgium victory in the international match played at the Fisht Olympic Stadium against Russia on Tuesday evening.

Three minutes before half time the striker headed home when a corner wasn’t cleared and then on the stroke of the interval Benteke got on the end of Nacer Chadli's free-kick to put his side in control before a late comeback from the home side.

It was a foul on the Eagles forward that had given the visitors a penalty just past the quarter hour mark and Kevin Mirallas put Belgium level from the spot after Viktor Vasin had given the home side an early advantage.

With sixteen minutes remaining Aleksey Miranchuk came off the bench to bring Russia back in the game and then another substitute, Aleksandr Bukharov, levelled the scores in the second minute of added time.
