Punch Recalls His Holmesdale Memories

18 March 2017

As the first team squad were training at Selhurst Park we took the opportunity to take Jason Puncheon into the Holmesdale Road Stand and back to his seat that he watched the games from as a season ticket holder as a boy.

In an interview with he recalled his memories of coming along to the stadium and watching the fortunes of the team during the nineties.

A debut for Leon McKenzie in the 1995/96 season is still fresh in his mind as the winger took us back to those matchdays in his lower tier seat.

of that era when I came here and watched the team that included players such as Clinton Morrison and Dean Gordon.memories“Looking back my first game sitting in my regular seat in the Holmesdale Road Stand was probably around the time of Leon McKenzie’s debut, I have good

"Dean had a sweet left foot and scored some great free kicks and another one who I remember enjoying watching was Ray Houghton.  He was a very good player but something that I always found strange was that he never came out to warm up with the rest of the team,  the first time you would see him was when he came out for the game and always wondered what he was doing at that time and it always played on my mind right to this day why he didn’t come out earlier than that.

"I started to come along when I was about eight years old and just enjoyed taking my seat and sitting there absorbing the football and then as time goes on you just get more and more involved and before long I went on to become a ball boy."

The rest as they say is history and you can have a chance to be like Jason back in the day and be a season ticket holder here at Selhurst Park.

Watch the full interview as Jason discusses more about his time as fan in the stand and also how he feels now running to the same area of the stadium to celebrate Eagles goals from the other side of the white line.
