Sam Allardyce has said that he agrees with Jose Mourinho that the Premier League should have moved the date of Sunday's game against Manchester United forward twenty four hours to give his side more time to prepare for Wednesday's Europa League Final against Ajax.
Mourinho said after the draw at Southampton in midweek that he wouldn't be making a late request to the Premier League to try and move the game to Saturday and therefore has decided to name several youngsters in his line-up for the final game of the season.
Allardyce feels that the change would give United more chance of coming back from the final in Stockholm with silverware.
"There is no doubt this match should be on Saturday, it could easily have been changed last week and given them the best chance of winning The Europa Cup. It’s a great shame that we are not like other countries who will move fixtures to try and help their teams win European competitions and we have all been moaning about the fact that we are not getting success in Europe but when you look at their fixture list you see this will be their 64th game this season. It’s a tremendous effort but he hasn’t had the help from the Premier League to try and give them the best chance to win a European trophy.
"As there is nothing on our fixture it is easier to have changed it, in terms of the result this match is not going to influence anything and I think it would have been a good gesture from the Premier League to give them the best chance of winning it."
